CSO 2008

Chautauqua Institution is pleased to announce that Stefan Sanderling has accepted the Institution's invitation to become the new music director of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. Sanderling stated, "I am honored and excited to become the new music director of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. Since my first appearance with this great orchestra, I have been taken by their wonderful music making, their commitment to excellence and their extraordinary camaraderie. If there is one place in the world where the utopia of a true synthesis of the arts, philosophy, religion and education can become reality, this place is Chautauqua. I am thrilled to be a part of the Chautauqua Institution and look forward to my first season in the summer of 2008."

Come Support Our Orchestra

The Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra (CSO) makes up a big part of the Chautauqua experience. In the past, many orchestra members lived on the Institution grounds and the audience knew them personally. Now, many live off the grounds and contacts between the CSO and their audiences are more limited.

Symphony Partners was formed in late 2004 to organize events that foster interaction between its members and the CSO. During the 2005 season four receptions were held on the back porch of the Amphitheater. Nine Partner receptions were held in private homes. It is our plan to expand these events and activities during the 2008 season. We extend a warm invitation for you to join this group. Symphony Partners is not a fund-raising group. Our annual household membership is $20, and this funds our many activities for our CSO musicians.

We cordially invite you to join Symphony Partners for the 2008 season and enhance community relationships with the CSO.
